• It stands to reason that military intelligence tends to cultivate the most advanced technology for classified use - which still makes the "portable xerography press" that Bernard carries an advanced prototype indeed! Xerography wasn't 'officially' invented until 1938, patented (in the U.S. at least) in 1942 ... and was actually called 'electrophotography' until 1948.
